César Damián

César Damián is a Mexican photographer with a brief, but solid career. He was selected in the photo competition Encuentro FotoGuanajuato in 2002. He received three consecutive fellowships for young creators from 2003 to 2005. He also was given honorable mention in the Photojournalism Biennale in 2005 in Mexico. In 2006, the National Fund for Culture and the Arts in Mexico granted him a fellowship to attend an artist’s residence at The Banff Centre, which led to his series Radiografías (X-rays). With this project, Damián was chosen to participate in the Calgary-Banff Photography Festival, which took place in February and March 2007. At the same time, Damián attended a second residence at The Banff Centre to continue with his Radiografías series. He was invited to form part of the LLAMA Proyect (Look, Listen and Make Art) during the summer of 2009 that took place in Yukon, Canada. There César developed his project “Migration and Memory” continuing his obsession with the subject of migration. During this experience in Yukon, he incorporated new techniques, electronic media, video, and sound into his work. César Damián studied Photography in 2001 at Scottsdale Community College, in Arizona, U.S.A. In 2002–2003 he studied at the national photography center known as Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City. He produces and edits his own book projects. From 2002 to the present, he has participated in more than twenty exhibitions at major museums and galleries in Mexico and Canada. Cesar Damian is a producer and editor of his own publishing projects. Also founder of FRONDA and main promoter of the project SiMBiOSiS SyMBiOSiS.
